I know, we’ve all “learned” how to sell. I’ve been through too many training classes, courses, studies, hands-on role playing seminars, webinars, etc…to list. Some have been very helpful; some have been a complete waste of time.
I’ve also read books, listened to motivational speakers, and spent time and money on time consuming self-study courses or materials that have netted me a knowledge base that feels like it is greater than my own ability to actually sell.
Think of it this way.
Let’s say I wanted to learn how to play guitar. I buy a guitar, and for a few months I just play around with it. I use a book, I learn a chord or two. Even a song (kinda). Frustration begins to set in. It’s a lot of hard work learning guitar.

See, my teacher is all about theory and how the music works, which is great, and can be useful, but I’m not playing enough to make it happen. So I know a bunch, but am still a little stuck playing “Bad, Bad LeRoy Brown” over and over again!
It’s passable, but no one is applauding me.
Sales can be the same exact way. So you’ve learned a lot? Okay, do you do it? Do you execute what you know? Do you know what to do next?
Sometimes that’s the hardest part for me.
