Social Bookmarking Strategy

Social bookmarking websites are becoming more and more popular. They allow you to save bookmarks online and Tag/Categorize them with keywords instead of saving them as bookmarks in the favorite’s list of your browser. This is particularly useful when your browser based bookmarks have become unwieldy. It’s also helpful since you can access your bookmarks from any computer where you have an internet connection. Below is a list of some popular social bookmarking sites:

Digg.com
Reddit
StumbleUpon
NewsVine
Diigo

Once you’ve bookmarked a website, you can view them, sort them by category/keyword as well as see links from others that have been categorized like yours.

You also establish RSS feeds for each category (tag) that you ‘subscribe’ to. This alerts you to new links in your areas of interest. Your bookmark collection/RSS Feed becomes viewable to others who can also copy your bookmarks to their own collection. So now you can aggressively promote your RSS feed to the RSS Directories and Search engines, syndicate them and make them available to a much wider audience.

Social bookmarking sites also help you to meet other people who are interested in the same topics you are and who may also have knowledge of web resources that you don’t.

On Social Bookmarking sites, you first create an account. Then you bookmark interesting and useful things in the area of your interest or expertise. By doing so you create a useful Feed. Once you’ve done that you intermittently, (or aggressively), add useful and interesting items, (that could use additional exposure), from your own content. Make an honest effort to contribute USEFUL information and links. This is all about sharing and exposure. Done properly, you can be as aggressive as you want about sharing information. You can share your blog(s), links to your informational/resource sites etc. Think about the fact that when you share links to other’s resources, you’re also effectively promoting their content as well.

This is a way you can aggressively and ethically promote your content and the content of others. I personally have hundreds of gigabytes of my own information and information of others, connected to my notebook. In the final analysis, it’s doing me no good what-so-ever just sitting there. But by organizing it online I can help myself and help others at the same time.

If you spice up your feed with too much sales and marketing related or self promotional stuff, people can and will easily drop their subscription to your feed. And instead of gaining good will and doing a service to the internet community you could get labeled as a spammer and suffer the consequences.

So while being aggressive is possible and acceptable, being careful to consider the best interest of the community is certainly warranted.

Balancing being ethical and providing a useful service to others with promoting your own content enables you to be as aggressive as you like. But remember, in the final analysis, others will make the decision on whether it’s ethical and useful…or spam.

Secret Social media best practices for Internet Marketers

Getting yourself going with social media is now an absolute necessity for any online business or Internet Marketer. Just like having a blog where you can share ideas and interact with customers, social media, is the new advertising and branding platform of the twenty first century. Plus its free!

You could save hundreds of thousands of dollars a year over traditional advertising by utilizing the power of social media. In this blog post youre going to discover how to effectively market your business using web 2- the latest technologies and It's not as hard as you might think to get more business by following these social media best practices for Internet marketers.

6 little known Social media best practices

1. You cant be in two places at once.

Many Internet marketers hire social media managers that understand how they work and how to use them effectively for business. They act as the Internet marketers proxy, posting messages, following the right people in your niche all on your behalf. No one is ever any wiser, unless of course you tell them
.
Finding the right company or virtual assistant, could be a little tricky. There are some social media managers that use black hat techniques that are often seen as spam and will hurt your brand and reputation which translates into going out of business faster than you can say Jack Flash. In order to find the right social media management service, check out reviews and feedback from active clients and former customers.

2. Plug-in-to- social media:
One of the best ways to get active customers sharing your content with their friends and family members is to add social media icons like a Like box for Facebook or the Blue Twitter Bird for twitter. This is easily done with software and plugins. Plug-in for social media will make it easy for customers to share your offerings.

Your readers will not have to leave your blog in order to share pics, reviews or coupons. The easier you make it for your customers the more likely people will "Like" your pages which increases your online exposure.

3. Viral Content share:

Think viral and you will have no problems getting people to share your content in social media. One way to do this is to make sure your content is unique and interesting so that other social media users will want to share it with others. People succeed by using social media, only if their content sticks out and make a point. See what others in your niche are passing around then make your even better.

4. Pictures that are worth a thousand likes

Add pictures of yourself, projects and new items or products to your social media profiles. Customer will get a sense of realism when they can see your offerings.

For instance a digital pdf of a book you have just written will make more of an impact for your customers if you have a graphic designer create a professional book jacket with your title and name at the bottom. Your customers will get better understanding of your product and they are more likely to follow a link to your website to purchase it.

5. Create a Social Buzz with exclusive offers

In order to increase your customers' interest towards your social media pages, create a buzz with exclusive offers that they can only get from following you. The freebie needs to be good. You need to create something that has a lot of interest in your niche. It could be as simple as video, audio, pdf or a mind map which are popular right now. Just keep it simple.

6. Become the Expert on Social Media

Before you can make your social media campaign effective, show that you are an expert at what you do best. How do you do that? By creating engaging content that entertains, as well as teaches.

A few years ago, I read a viral eBook which title said it all. It was titled Teaching sells. Teach others what you have learned and applied to your business which works and you will be hailed an authority in your niche and an expert for life.

Twitter Possible

Social sites like Twitter, Facebook, and StumbleUpon are hot and  getting hotter all the time. Both online and offline businesses are jumping into social media marketing craze and for a good reason.

 It works.

To push past your competition, you'll want to continually build relationships and stay ever-connected in the social metting-places.

Social media can help you to accomplish this. Not to mention that it's fun & very profitable.
Thankfully, there are simple and effective ways to use these social networking sites to help you grow your business.

I took a small poll of business owners in the Lake of the Ozarks area.

The question I ask was:
“Do you use social media sites to help you grow your business?”
I was stunned by the answers I received from this poll. Here are some of the responses.
  • I don’t know how to use it
  • I don’t have time to play on the computer all day
  • I use facebook for personal use but not for business
  • I’ve heard of twitter but never tried it.

Wow, to say the least I was shock by the responses. That is why I decided to write this post. Actually this is going to be just the first part of many blog post to come on social media marketing   to show you the  service business owner, why you need to be using social media networking to help you grow your business.
I'll share some of those tips with you now.

Mixxing with social media?

Here is an easy way of looking at social media, especially Twitter. Before web 2.0 you use to bookmark or save a sites  url's in your favorites on the browser like Internet explorer or Netscape. All you have to do is hit contro and "D" to bookmark. This way you wouldn't have to write them down in a notepad just to remember them or share them with a friend through email.

Those were the good 'ol days. Luckily there wasn't millions of sites back then like there is Today.
In social media terms this is called bookmarking. The only difference is now you share your bookmarks with your friends and really the world, with sites like facebook, Digg.com, squidoo and a host of many other social media sites out there.

So, if you like an article or a certain blog or web site, even a video you would now post it on facebook, tweet it on twitter, digg it on digg.com or link to it from You Tube. You could even StumbleUpon many new sites that will Propell your mind to new heights.

It's really genius.
If you think of social media this way instead of all the noise that is out in cyberspace, that will "mixx" you up, you will have it a lot easier than most getting your feet wet in social media.

And if you are still confused I suggest you read "How to win friends and influence people" today.

Twitter-Possible

Many people are using twitter as a way to connect with colleagues, family, friends, and customers. If you haven't tried Twitter, now may be the best time to set up an account and see what it's all about.

Twitter is a "micro blogging" community where you can write (in 140 characters or less) anything you'd like. Well Almosst anything:) You can update people about your day, share resources, send a link to your websites, etc. - anything that you feel your followers will find useful or interesting.

When you're a member of twitter you "follow" people and they will "follow" you. At-least-in-theory, some don’t.
This just means that when you log in to your twitter account you will see the messages posted by those who you're following. Likewise, the people who have decided to follow you will see your messages.

Example:

Mr. Realtor follows Paul’s super market. So, when Mr. realtor logs into his Twitter account, he can see Paul's Super market updates on his screen along with all of the other people he is following.
Assuming you're using Twitter for marketing and growing your customer base, the people you follow and those who follow you should be highly targeted.

They log in because they are interested in what you and others have to say. Since there are only 140 characters allowed per “tweet” (twitter post), you'll want to encourage your followers to follow your link for more information on what you are referring to.

There are many applications and third party vendors that you can use to utilize twitter and turn it into a super automated marketing tool. A word of caution, it is wise to use twitter out the box first then once you have a good following and understand how to use it, then it may be time to automate.
If you use this Twitter in the correct way you'll gain loyal followers which leads to targeted traffic and then very targeted customers.

Some have even found Twitter traffic to be more targeted than Pay-Per-Click and article marketing, both which have been deemed proven methods of internet marketing.

With this in mind, please leave a question or comment below, be a part of twitter possible.

Using a Google plus business page is like using all those old ad mediums rolled into one spot. Powerful advertising and branding medium like no other.

Social Media Best Practices for Internet Marketers-Part 2

Welcome back, if you are coming here from a search engine and haven't read part one of this blog post, then you may be missing about 6 parts. Click here to go to part one.

Here are three more social media best pratices for Internet Marketers...

7. Map Your Business For Social

Mapping you’re social media plan and goals beforehand will make your campaign more focused and will become more productive. By doing creating a map you will stand head and shoulders above your competitors. Many of who are still trying to sort out how social media can help their business. That is unless your competition reads this post before you.

8. Bragging Rights, it’s the right thing to do

Don’t be afraid to toot your own horn on social media sites. brag about how many followers you have from time to time, then remind others what they will get for following you (refer to tip 5.)  Somebody may see that 1,000 people are following you on Twitter and investigate your page to find out more. Then they may follow you just to find out what the entire buzz is about. This is especially true if your brand or name as an accomplished internet marketer is hash tagged  more than a few times.

9. Use Social Networking to Promote Your Website:

Using the popularity of social media to drive traffic to your own blog or website is a great traffic strategy for Internet Marketers to using today. Internet marketers run their websites as a way to make money.  So it’s only natural to gather a following from social media in order to drive traffic to your virtual doors.

For the Internet marketer social media is no different than networking at your local chamber of commerce meeting, with one exception, you won’t be handing out business cards instead you’ll be giving links to articles, videos and other content all at your website.

There are a number of methods to drive traffic from social media sites to yours, and gain the audience you always wanted. As you can see from this blog post social media can seem a little intimidating and confusing for someone who hasn't spent much time on them. But in reality if you look at it from a marketing stand point it is really quite easy.

If your building you’re list, this one traffic strategy is perhaps the most powerful I have ever used to build a list from Facebook. Click here to see what it is all about

Social Media Traffic-Easy steps to getting you're share

When I refer to social media traffic, I’m talking about promoting your on sites like Facebook.com, Twitter.com, and MySpace.com,  niche social networking sites (like Dogster.com for dog lovers).

To avoid getting distracted, I suggest you just start with two: Twitter.com and Facebook.com, first then you can start using this tactic on other social media sites to get even more traffic.

 Here’s how…

Set Up Your Profile

Be sure to fill out your profile completely. Some of this info should be about you (including a photo of yourself), just so that people get a sense of who you are. However, your profile should also be about your prospects. In other words, tell them what you can do for them.

Naturally, be sure to include a link to your landing page as well as to your blog.

 Start Posting

No one is going to join your contact network if you haven’t posted anything. So spend a few days adding good posts to your account, such as tips.

Don’t be promotional at this point, as you don’t want your Facebook feed or Twitter account to read like an ad. Instead, make it useful to your prospects by offering tips and other quick solutions to their problems.

Examples:

·         Does your dog get anxious when you leave? Train him to be calm by leaving for just a few minutes at a time. And never open the door when you hear him crying or barking.

·         You can improve your conversion rate by including trigger words in your headline, such as: you, how to, discover, secrets and guaranteed!

·         Swap those fatty potato chips for pretzels and you’ll easily slash 100 calories from your diet!

Seek Out Friends & Acquaintances, others

Once you’ve posted some good content on your account, then you can start seeking out “friends” and “followers” to add to your contact list.

Tip: Not everyone you seek out is necessarily a prospect. Instead, some of them could turn out to be good joint venture partners. See Day 23 for more details on joint venture marketing.

First off, put links to your Twitter and Facebook accounts on your blog and encourage your blog visitors to join. You may also give them an incentive to do so, such as free reports or perhaps specially arranged discounts for your fans, followers and friends.

Next, search these sites using your niche keywords (like “dog” or “gardening”). Then send out friend requests to those who share these interests. Take note, however, that you’ll likely have more success with this strategy on Twitter, as some people reserve their Facebook accounts for personal friends and family.

Tip: Don’t be tempted to use a social media site as your list-building site. That’s because most people have hundreds of contacts on these networks, so your messages often get buried in their feeds.

Instead, encourage your contact lists to join your regular list (by telling them about your free ecourse). And consider your contact lists as just one more channel to reach your target market. That is unless you use this strategy.

Now go Set up your Twitter and Facebook profiles and start posting to your accounts. So the sooner you get started the sooner you will get that well deserved Social media traffic

FB Traffic Factor 5 ways to get traffic

FaceBook Traffic Factor:

Social media has been a huge traffic factor online for the last 6 years. Facebook is now one the most popular social media platforms in the world, with over 1.71 Billion profiles, it doesn’t take a genius to conclude that your target audience is going to be hanging out on Facebook.

With that said, let’s go over just 5 ways to drive a hoard of traffic from facebook to your affiliate blog, or squeeze page, so you can dangle that digital carrot in front of them.

1.   Share a link: Depending on whether you want your mom to see your posts on your FB timeline or not it could be as simple as writing a short paragraph and include a link below to  your site for more info.

2.   Create really good content: Find out what your target audience is into, i.e. check out Google trends, Yahoo answers, and do some keyword research for your content. Yah, keywords are going to be your “hyper” words to attract search traffic.

Sorry if this bums you out, but that is how many people find what interests them. Now once you have your content written use facebook’s, “Notes” and share that with your friends. Hopefully, most of them are in your target audience.

3.   Create an attention getting image or Meme: Find an image on your hard drive or purchase one from a stock photo shop (online.) Make sure it is related to your content, you don’t want to have an article about weight loss and have a picture of a plate of mouth watering chicken alfredo.  Add a short sentence, again that teases your target audience with a link this time in the comments back to your blog or squeeze page.

4.    Start an FB Group: Face book wants to be all things to all people. Before web 2.0 (social media site & networks,) the easiest free place to target your audience was forums. Facebook has such a thing as “groups,” that anyone can start. Like a forum, your target audience will flock to it like ant’s to picnic.

5.   Participate in Groups: Join a few groups in your niche, make sure they have a high member count and that your profile is complete and a linked to your site. Read the group description and rules before posting. Then introduce yourself and add a link back to your blog or squeeze page if permissible.

IIf you participate and are helpful in the groups, you are going to attract several people that are involved in your niche. They will seek you out one of 2 ways.

a.   They will look to the introductions and find your link back to your site.
b.   They will click on your profile image and check out your timeline including your about page which should have a link back to your blog or squeeze page.

Well there you have it, 5 ways to get free targeted traffic from FB to your affiliate site. Or as I like to call it FB Traffic Factor.
