The Public Domain Empire
According to wikipedia, “The public domain is a range of abstract materials – commonly referred to as intellectual property – which are not owned or controlled by anyone. The term indicates that these materials are therefore "public property", and available for anyone to use for any purpose”.
The Public domain includes land(s) like public parks, state and national parks, books, music, photographs, plays, poetry, public speeches, sermons, etc. Almost anything that you can imagine is in the public domain. What this means to you is that when a copy write or patent expires on an intellectual property or patent anyone may freely use that work legally in any manner they choose without the obligation to paying royalties to the creator. However, it must be stressed that blatant plagiarism is still illegal and morally wrong.
Every country has Public domain laws and it is up to you the researcher to find out what the laws of your country are before you download, use and resell public domain material. One of the simplest ways is to do a Google search on the key words “Public domain law, your country”.
So far we have discovered what the Public domain is, now let us explore vastness of its content.

When I first discovered the Public domain I was in book heaven. I have down-loaded from a source which I will tell you about in a moment, more than two hundred books on subjects that interest myself and on niche subjects that I write about for my blogs and articles.
Some of which include self help books, economics, cooking, history, politics, science and of course on writing.
Public domain material is all over the internet including e-bay, you just have to know what you are hunting for.
The first place to started is called project Guttenburg, which is named after the Gutenburg press. This is a great place to start plundering into the riches of the Public domain. They have a great section called the top 100 which will give you title and author of the latest downloaded e-books. They also have a section that I visit quite frequently called recent books. Here they list recent digital entries to the Project Gutenburg data base.
