How to Add A Custom Domain In Blogger From GoDaddy in 5 Minutes

How to Add A Custom Domain In Blogger From GoDaddy in 5 Minutes

I watch this video twice and followed the steps it took to add a custom domain in Blogger from GoDaddy and it took just 5 minutes.

My problem started...

When I watch a completely different video that was shorter than this one. The problem with the other was that it didn't tell you to checkmark the redirect from Your-Domain to Name-Blogspot.com

You need to checkmark that box and...

You also need to add "Googles," 4 IP Addresses to your GoDaddy "A" record. If you don't the process will only be half finished and your domain will not show up as your Blogger blog.

When I did this only my favicon showed in the URL tab.

The rest still showed the GoDaddy page.

Tip

Watch the video and in your browser, open two tabs: One for your GoDaddy account and log into your Blogger blog that you want to add a custom domain in Blogger from GoDaddy.

Once you watch the video and follow the tips above you will have your custom domain on your Blogger blog.

Be patient. It took almost 16 hours for my domain to finally resolve.

Marketing your Custom Domain in Blogger from GoDaddy Tip

Planning on using Facebook to market your blog you may find this tip useful.

Facebook hates redirects and URL Masking, and they will consider it spam.

Basically, what you are creating by using a custom domain on your blog is a URL Mask. Your domain is still only parked on GoDaddy and Google isn't giving you free hosting.

So when I tried to market my blog using the Custom domain Facebook flag my URL as spam as you can see in the image below. You will see where I added my domain name in a group on FB.

Then once you try to remove the link you get this notification.

After that, I got to thinking...

How can you market a link on FB without getting flagged if you Added a custom domain in blogger from Godaddy in 5 minutes?

Well, the answer came pretty quickly...

Make a banner image with the URL in it like I did here.

Or...

Use blog promotion groups on Google Plus.
